Stumbled across this World Toilet Summit 2007 which is to be held in New Delhi India.
Checked out the list of foreign participants and i was just curious, i wanted to find out whether Malaysia was into this. Oh yes, Singapore held this summit in 2001. I found some Malaysian participants, but they were all of those from Sarawak (Kuching & Miri). Wondering why, how come no one from our capital? Public toilet in KL, anywhere? I can't think of any... I mean those toilets not in a shopping mall or at any of the R&R along the North-South highway, but the ones that you found on the street or in an open public areas.
Anyway, this summit has got nothing to do with me. But it makes me thinking. I need to use toilet numerous times in a day, whether I am at home, at work or i could be in anywhere, on a flight, in a cruise, on a shopping trip, in a cafe, on the road...the list goes on. It is something that we do not spend much thinking about. A toilet is just a toilet. It has taken many years for a flush toilet to become such a basic thing in our life. There are still many places, especially those rural places in India and China with no proper toilet. A flushing toilet would mean some form of luxury to the poor ones in undeveloped countries.
Talking about toilet, reminded me of some funny incidents. There was once i was on a coach (johor -kl), i was so desperate in need to pee and i begged the driver to stop by for me to go to the toilet. I lied to him that i was pregnant and i really needed to use the toilet. The cold hearted babi driver refused to stop. In the end, when the coach got stuck in the jam upon arriving KL city centre, somewhere at Jalan Pudu, i jumped off the coach, and ran to the monorail station and not forgetting cursing the driver.
Another funny one.. younger days when Evonne and I were out shopping. We had a sumptious meal from local food stalls, and looking for a toilet. We ended up walking glamorously to the Marriott hotel to just use the loos. We really enjoyed 'that' moment and still chatted happily with each other from our own cubicles!
10 Things i hate about toilet :
1. no toilet paper
2. wet toilet seat and warm toilet seat
3. the flush is not working/ unable to flush
4. the toilet door is unable to lock
5. having to queue to use the toilet
6. need to pay to use the toilet
7. puke in the toilet bowl
8. stained toilet bowl
9. cigarette butts floating in the toilet bowl
10. the doom-ge-doom sound
10 Things I love about toilet :
1. strong smell of Dettol
2. squeaky clean toilet
3. spacious toilet
4. toilet with mirrors
5. toilet that has music (those in hotels, or some malls)
6. toilet with good quality toilet rolls (like those super soft with prints or embroidery!)
7. toilet with full length door
8. toilet with privacy (so that i don't need to rush myself for the next person to use, don't need to be extra careful with those funny sound..)
9. tastefully decorated toilet
10.auto-flush toilet
